Closed Alpha now open on Android

Know when your car starts using more fuel.

Fillwise tracks your fuel economy tank by tank and tells you when it drops and stays down, which is often the first sign that something needs attention. It keeps your service schedule too, and everything stays on your phone.

Free to test. Alpha testers get premium free when it launches. Android 8.0 or newer.

Fillwise home screen showing a mileage drop alert: 7 percent below normal for 3 tanks running, last 3 tanks 17.1 MPG against a normal of 18.4 MPG, with cost per mile, last fill, and an overdue engine air filter.

Diagnosis, not just a logbook

One bad tank is noise. Three in a row is a pattern.

Fillwise measures economy from one full tank to the next, so a partial fill is counted with the next full tank instead of skewing the numbers. When economy falls and holds over several tanks, you get an alert, along with the usual suspects to rule out first.

  • Know why it dropped? Say so: winter fuel, a change in your driving, or something else. The alert goes quiet, and comes back if mileage falls further or doesn't recover.
  • Fixed something? Log the repair, and after three tanks Fillwise tells you whether mileage came back.
Mileage drop detail: the last 3 tanks averaged 17.1 MPG, about 7 percent below a normal of 18.4. A bar chart compares 6 earlier tanks with the last 3, followed by things to rule out first such as winter-blend fuel and shorter, colder trips.
